When it comes to the glass ceiling she shattered， the massive audiences her reporting reached， there will never be another like her， which is why her announcement this morning marks such a milestone， far beyond this building.
David Muir （Anchor and correspondent for ABC News）： A rare glimpse into her dressing room， a television icon， a ground breaker about to break yet another headline and we asked how she’s feeling.

Voice： Barbara Walters.
David： …and then， of course， creating The View. But she will walk away from all of those cameras a year from now， but today she wanted her crew to hear it from her first.
Barbara： Why？ It’s time. I…I wanta leave while people say “We’ll miss her” instead of “Is she still here？” People say， “Who was your mentor？” I didn’t have any. Today， if a young woman says， “I grew up watching you” or…or “You made it a little easier.” David， I think that’s my legacy.
David： What has she taught you？
Joy Behar （Co-host， The View）： You know， you always show up and never get sick and don’t go to the bathroom either， because， if you go to the bathroom， that means you’ve missed the interview. Anne Sweeney （President， Disney/ABC Television Group）： How she approached the truth， the number of people that she got to speak their truth in front of the camera； it’s astounding.
